The Western Michigan Rifle and Pistol Club welcomes shooters of all experience levels and ages!
Welcome to the Western Michigan Rifle and Pistol Club (WMR&PC). We are a multipurpose sportsman’s club that has long served the Ionia, Saranac, Belding, and surrounding areas of western Michigan, drawing members from as far away as Grand Rapids and Lansing. Founded in 1949, the club occupies 62 acres of varied terrain west of Ionia, Michigan. It is supported by a diverse group of hunters and sport shooters who have been attracted by its convenient location, variety of facilities and the friendliness of its members. The shooting sports are something the whole family can enjoy together. Come join us and find out for yourself!
WMR&PC has groups active in Bullseye Pistol, Smallbore Rifle and Trap, providing a variety of organized shooting opportunities. We are proud to have been the host of the State Outdoor Bullseye Pistol Championships for the last several years. The club is fully equipped for Silhouette, Archery, Rifle, and Muzzleloader, as well as Cowboy Action Shooting, for those who might be interested in starting their own programs. Come join a team and shoot on a rifle or pistol league, or come to one of the regularly scheduled matches that are open to all.
Our Saturday morning Junior Rifle Program gets youngsters involved in the shooting sports and supports them with equipment and coaching. They can learn marksmanship and firearm safety – and have fun – for very little cost. Hunter Safety classes and Concealed Pistol License courses are taught on a regular basis by NRA certified instructors. This reflects our commitment to promoting firearms safety and to maintaining our Second Amendment rights by exercising them.
When there are no scheduled events occupying the range, the range is open to the general membership for practice or pleasure shooting. Each member has gate access. With this privilege comes the responsibility to follow range rules carefully. Safety first, last and always!
The club provides a full compliment of shooting range venues: trap fields, rifle ranges to 300 yards, a covered 30-point 50- yard pistol range and a covered 25-yard pistol range with turning targets, both with concrete firing points and benches. The clubhouse features a 15-point heated indoor range with turning targets, meeting area, snack bar set-up, and rest rooms.
Oversight of the club’s operation is entrusted to a board of directors under the provisions of a 501c(4) tax structure. We are funded by membership dues, match fees, small user charges (eg., for trap, pistol league fees) and by a yearly raffle and fund raising banquet.
